Trinity College Dublin (TCD)

Trinity College Dublin (TCD) is Ireland’s premier university, located at the heart of Dublin. The pursuit of excellence through research and scholarship is at the heart of a Trinity education, and our researchers have an outstanding publication record and strong record of grant success. Within the School of Natural Science, the division of Geology has a core of young and dynamic academic staff, with particular strengths in geochemistry. TCD has recently established a world-class facility for characterization of mineral chemistry and particle liberation. This consists of a newly awarded state-of-the-art SEM equipped with large format EDS systems and RAMAN, a fully automated XRD facility, as well as one Europe’s very few UV-LA-ICP-MS facilities fully dedicated to ore samples.

Luleå University of Technology (LTU)

Luleå university of technology (LTU) is a leading Swedish university based in the northern part of Sweden. We currently have 1,700 employees and 16,000 students. LTU is characterized by implementing need driven research, both fundamental and applied in close cooperation with industry. The close cooperation with industry also means that also our education strongly involves industry, with compulsory internships, thesis work carried out to a large degree within industry and so on. This is illustrated by the high amount of direct funding from industry. LTU is Sweden’s centre for research and education which focuses on mining, and the clearly stated ambition is to be an internationally strong centre of excellence.
